As a belated wedding gift from our friends Jonathan and Corinne, we recieved a Smart Box for a pituresque get away. We choose a small inn style home with three rooms just an hour north of where we live and just next to the city of Gisors. It was adorable! We had the biggest room which was actually like a little house. There was an entry, our room to the left and a children's room to the right. Off our room we had a gorgeous bathroom. There was another room above us. The main house where the family lived was off to the right of the courtyard. Off to the left was the third room above the open garage/stable and next to that was the kitchen and relaxation room for the guests. It was al so beautifully decorated with antique furniture and decorative details.
We checked in and then went for a walk in the charming historic neighborhood. twas all kept up very nicely and in its orginal style. We headed back then to the room where our hostess served us a apperatif cocktail and then we headed off just across the road to a gastronomic restaurant.
The menu was classic French and the ambiance was fantastic. We we're placed next to the fire place and served salmon verrines as starters. We had three course meals with wine all served beautifully displayed on decorated plates. The best part s were the cheese and dessert carts. After the meal they roll out this cart of at least 15 different cheese of which we could choose whatever we wanted. Then the same for the desserts. The cart was piled with cakes, fruit salads, fresh fruits, sauces and creams. You could mix and match them however you wanted. I had a slice of chocolate cake with fresh raspberries. Adrien gave up there. Then they brought the bill with a tiered plate of chocolates, mini cakes and homemade tuile cookies. I did justice to that too; :)
Before we arrived at the inn we explored the city of Gisors which is like any other city but there casle is very impresive. There we're tons of doors and stairs that led to nowhere or to ruined areas now floored with grass. It was a beautiful sunny day but the wind was cold.

Please be obliged to speak to me gently without raising your tone and without contradicting me in any manner.Don't know why this was posted on one of the castle doors or who put it there but I like it a lot.! I'm thinking of putting on our front door as a warning to guests. : )

The next morning we gathered with the other guests in the kitchen for a hearty breakfast includig homemade jams, pain au chocolate and tea. A quick stop at a local brocante antique store and we wereon our way home again.
I highly recommend this inn for anyone with a car in the Paris area. If you'e ever here for a visit, we'll gladly take you to the restaurant which was a true French experience at a resonable price.
