If ever you considered doing a school year abroad, now's the time. Avoid the bad economy for a year and become an Au Pair in France!My former host family, a young Franco-Canadien couple with four well behaved but energetic children age 3-10, have started looking for next year's Au Pair. They're specifically looking for a mature English speaker with a driving experience.
I can tell you from experience, and comparison, that this is a great family to work for! They are friendly helpful and flexible and I truly felt like a member of the family when I was there.
Things might have changed a bit since I worked with them but...
Main Duties: shuttling kids to and from school and activities, meals, bath time, babysitting, light housework, laundry and ironing.
Main Perks: Monthy pocket money and an unlimited metro pass to all the way Paris, free room and board, personal use of the Au Pair car (stick), Intense French courses a few times a week (20hrs a week), own room and personal computer with internet, use of the Au Pair cell phone, family's aid in filling out all necessary paperwork...and first hand experience with French culture!
