This year was Adrien's first Renaissance Festival.

Adrien's first thought when he thought of Renaissance times was the black plague so he went as an infested rat. I stuck to the traditional maiden costume. Mikel went as a pirate.
The weather was ideal if not a bit too sunny on the festival grounds where shade is not abundant.
We enjoyed the The Wacky Chicken Show from the Theatre of Fools:

We saw giant tortoises an boa constrictors wandering around as well as street performers such as jugglers, stilt walkers, and various comedians. A new thing I saw this year was a guy with a wooden plank strapped to his back who was taking dollars in exchange for a place to sit as he knelt on all fours. Very funny!
And the food was of course one of the best things. I had my traditional bread bowl of wild rice soup, Adrien tried brats and stir frys, we both had a orange givre (mine orange and his strawberry flavored). Adrien tried Mead for the first time.

We also wandered the artisan stands a bit learning new games and smelling perfumes.
Later Adrien admitted to liking the Renaissance Festival more than the State Fair even. Success!
P.S. Thank you Sheilah for unknowingly letting me pirate a few of your beautiful photos!
the last picture with the tail is the best! xoLiz
